Not a whole lot to report today. Yesterday her ammonia levels were up so that was a little concerning, but after giving her a dose of Lactelose (a medicine she was already on) and re-running the lab, it was back to normal. The doctors told us that it is a very picky lab so it could have just been how it was ran or the amount of time it took to run the lab.
Addy is still happy and playing. For some reason she has decided sleeping at night is no longer necessary. Yesterday we tried to keep her up for most of the day but she still fought the sleep at night. She will sleep in our arms but as soon as we go to put her in her bed, she is back awake. I am guessing she is missing home just as much as we are.
Other than that we are still just waiting for a phone call!
I'm sure the homesickness is part of it, but we were having the same trouble with Nora about a month ago. I spent a couple of weeks on not much sleep. So maybe I can ease your mind a little. Nora is now back to sleeping through the night. Hope you will see the same!
ReplyDeleteStephanie,
ReplyDeleteAddy, you, & Pat are in our thoughts & prayers. I remember lots of nights holding Robbie at Akron Children's Hospital. May God give you all three some rest & that phone call we are all praying for! Faith
Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteI remember what it was like waiting for that phone call for my husband. He went on the transplant list in November 2006 for a kidney/pancreas. The first time they called in January 2007 Mike was sick so we were not able to go. The second time, also in January, we went over and they started the blood work and pre-op stuff. Unfortunately when they harvested the pancreas it was not able to be used so they sent us back home. They called again in April, Mike had just gotten home from work and went to bed around 9:00 in the morning. I had been in the shower for about 5 minutes when Michaela brought the phone to me and said it was the hospital so I had her run up and get her dad. They wanted us at OSU around 11:30. I had to make quick arrangements for the kids and get everything ready. I think we were out of the house by 10:30. We got there and they started the pre-op stuff once again. They could not tell us a time that his surgery would start, so we waited all day. Finally around 8 that night they came and told us that surgery was set for 6 the next morning. They did take him back as scheduled and everything went great. The doctor said as soon as they hooked up the pancreas his sugar dropped to what it should have been. It will be 6 years this April and he feels so much better than he did when he was sick and a diabetic. He is not on a whole lot of anti-rejection medications either compared to what some people are. You will get that phone call when you are least expecting it! Praying for you all.

I know this probably isn't very helpful, but Laurel's sleep schedule always gets messed up when we're in the hospital too. Good news is that it always straightens out quickly once we're home again! Prayers being sent your way!!
